The University of Texas Arlington men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams have a new home.

After decades of success, the "Movin' Mavs" and "Lady Movin' Mavs" are officially joining the UTA Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Both teams will be supported by the athletics department and will move their championship banners from the Physical Education building to the main basketball arena on campus, College Park Center.

Mavs wheelchair basketball has a long and successful tradition at UTA that includes a combined 13 national championships and 36 Paralympians. UTA president, Dr. Jennifer Cowley, summed it up:

“For 50 years, our men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams have shown the nation what it means to compete with heart, discipline, and championship-level determination... This move will strengthen both programs and amplify the championship culture they represent."
